About

Welcome to my page!

My foremost interests include the philosophy of religion (both East and West), comparative religions, themes in classical American philosophy, and philosophies of perception and experience.

One core mission of mine is to articulate the significance of the embodied and environmentally-embedded nature of consciousness for the structure of spiritual meaning.

At the moment, three projects I am currently working on are:

1) The question of neurotheology (to what extent is the study of brain activity useful for illuminating religious states of awareness?).

2) The relevance of Alfred North Whitehead and William James for theories of psychotherapy and human development generally.

3) The topic of religious and theological diversity (with a concentration on the different approaches taken by Process theology and The Perennial Philosophy).

On this site one can find a small sample of my published work and some conference presentations.  In addition, my pics from China and India are available under the Websites tab.

I look forward to any thoughts or feedback!

Jon W.
